Our collaboration with Tool and 72andSunny for Disney•PIXAR’s Cars 3 and Target is a great example of our well-orchestrated machine in action.
This miniature bakery was packed full of moving parts. Our initial digital design and layout included the exterior as well as the interior with its working conveyor belts, colored lighting, and powdered sugar station. In addition to the fine detail work, some of which was built by hand by our skilled artisans, we fabricated the life-size set surrounding the bakery and even shot the commercials on location in our studio space.
Lady Gaga’s production designer asked us to collaborate on a variety of props for the musician’s “Fame” perfume launch including a 60-foot lifelike sculpture of her body. Starting with a 3D scan of the singer we coordinated with a specialized foam manufacturing company, who made foam to our specs 24 hours a day for a week. For the sculptural pieces, we utilized five-axis CNC machines working around the clock to get the job done.
In an effort to translate the humor and friendship that is at the core of Bud Light, we worked with Wieden + Kennedy to develop the Bud Knight character. The full suits of custom armor created were used in countless marketing campaigns. Durable. Comfortable. And highly recognizable, the Bud Knight character was featured in broadcast spots, activations, and social posts for years.
Intel partnered with four of YouTube’s biggest tech influencers to help launch a new processor and brought us on board to design and fabricate uniquely customized PC stations for each of them. We began by secretly gathering intel about them – their background, their likes, what they do etc. Our in-house technicians then built and engineered each station utilizing laser cutting, CNC machining, 3D printing, custom electronics and LED programming.
San Diego Comic Con
To help celebrate the 80th anniversary of Batman’s creation, we were brought on by DC and AT&T to create Rogues Gallery Rumble for Comic-Con, an immersive experience that had fans fighting against the Joker and the Riddler, complete with sound effects and huge graphic text. We custom programmed software to integrate with a series of accelerometers, projection mapping and sound systems, displaying the coordinated graphics and simultaneous sound effects every time the rigged punching bag was whacked.
D23 Expo, Disney California Adventure Park
Working with Disney-Pixar and Mattel, we created a replica of Radiator Springs from Cars for Disney’s D23 Expo. Our digital artists dissected the film assets from Disney and visited California Adventure to complete the final look. After the design phase, we 3D printed the parts, and programmed the lights to come on in the same sequence in the first Cars movie when the townsfolk spruced up Main Street. The finished project is on permanent display at Sarge’s.
POD Save America often tours the nation and performs their podcasts on stage in front of live audiences. We were hired by the show’s production designer to engineer and produce the large-scale set elements featured on stage including a 13-foot-tall bust of George Washington donning earbuds and several dilapidated columns that appeared to be poorly supported by duct tape.
In this experiential and broadcast campaign for Nissan, we were brought on board to bring their Intelligent Safety Shield Technologies to life. In the span of six days, we installed, and operated on set, including building a steel structure safely engineered to withstand the weight and movement of the showcased vehicle. The underlit structure also featured programmable lighting systems triggered by the participant’s movements and highlighted the vehicle’s multiple safety features using an edge-lit acrylic effect.
The larger than life Samuel L. Jackson mascot head we produced was featured in a Capital One commercial called “Chuck U”, that aired prior to the NCAA men’s March Madness tournament.
