SCPS Unlimited collaborated with the production team behind a national commercial campaign for AllModern, helping bring a Rube Goldberg–inspired machine to life for the brand’s modern furniture collection. Directed by Bob Partington, the concept drew inspiration from the playful experimentation of the Bauhaus era, using a carefully choreographed chain reaction to represent how AllModern works behind the scenes to create a seamless shopping experience. The commercial follows a sequence of interconnected movements traveling through multiple rooms, visually demonstrating the brand’s belief that good design should feel effortless and accessible.

SOLUTION

Working from the director’s concept drawings, the SCPS team translated the creative vision into engineered solutions through 3D visualizations of the mechanical frames and trigger systems required to power the sequence. These digital models allowed the production team to preview how each component would interact within the chain reaction and ensured the mechanisms would function reliably during filming. Once approved, SCPS moved into commercial set fabrication, building the custom frames, structural supports, and mechanical triggers necessary to create the full Rube Goldberg system.

EXECUTION

The finished mechanical set was installed and calibrated within a controlled studio environment designed to represent multiple rooms of a modern home. Each component was carefully engineered and tested to ensure consistent performance, allowing the chain reaction to be captured across multiple takes with precise timing between movements. SCPS worked closely with the production team on-site to fine-tune the system, ensuring both reliability and visual impact for camera.
