To honor the three hundred year history of New Orleans, we partnered with TOOL of North America and creative director DJ Neff to build two interactive story booths that allowed residents and visitors to share their personal experiences with the city. One booth became a permanent installation at the New Orleans airport, while the other was built as a mobile unit that traveled to festivals and events.
We designed and fabricated both units from the ground up, transforming the mobile booth from a 20 foot cargo container and creating an enclosed production studio inside each space with hidden cameras, projectors, and an AI system that listened for key words and projected related imagery onto the walls and onto the storytellers themselves.
The exteriors were finished with reclaimed materials from around the city, including antique doorknobs, cypress wood, hand painted maps, and furnishings sourced from local homes and businesses. With modern technology blended into the spirit of the city, the booths became meaningful pieces that carried the heart of New Orleans wherever they went.
