SCPS Unlimited collaborated with Kenzo Parfums, Plein Soleil, and production designer Andrew L. Jones to recreate a visually iconic moment originally seen during Kenzo’s 2008 Fall/Winter fashion show in Paris. Directed by Patrick Guedj, the project was developed for the “For a Beautiful World” marketing film promoting Flower by Kenzo perfume and required the fabrication of a large-scale suspended installation designed for filming in an outdoor environment.
To bring the scene to life, the SCPS team engineered and fabricated a 25-foot rigging structure supporting more than 60,000 suspended red silk petals designed to repeatedly release and reload during production. The build required extensive digital planning, material testing, structural engineering, and fabrication to account for wind conditions at the San Francisco filming location while maintaining the illusion of floating petals seen in the original fashion show. In addition to the suspended installation, SCPS Unlimited fabricated a custom petal-covered scenic surface used for the film’s final overhead sequence. Once fabrication and testing were completed, the rig was carefully transported from Los Angeles to San Francisco where the SCPS team operated the installation on set during filming. The result was a striking visual moment that helped bring the commercial’s cinematic atmosphere to life.
