SCPS Unlimited collaborated with the production team behind Warner Bros.’ Birds of Prey, helping bring several of the film’s iconic comic-inspired costume elements to life. Working closely with the film’s Costume Department Production Supervisor, our team was brought onboard to capture the stylized look of Huntress’s tapered purple goggles worn by Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Using Mary’s 3D scanned measurements, we custom designed and fabricated sleek angular goggles engineered for both screen accuracy and on-set comfort. To further capture the comic book aesthetic, the lenses were engineered to slide upward at an angle and lock into place, mimicking the character’s signature horned rims seen in the source material.
During production, SCPS Unlimited was also tasked with redesigning and fabricating a new Black Mask for Ewan McGregor and his stunt double under an accelerated production timeline. The custom-fabricated mask needed to capture the menacing skull-inspired appearance from the comics while remaining lightweight and comfortable for filming.
Utilizing a combination of digital fabrication, custom fitting, finishing, and paint techniques, our team completed the redesigned Black Mask in under two weeks. From superhero costume elements and custom masks to wearable fabrication for film and television, SCPS Unlimited supports productions with in-house capabilities ranging from 3D printing and CNC machining.
